A forward for your use…

Hi everybody,

John and I received a pre-blasting home survey notice from the dynamite Powell Group. This meeting tomorrow evening is a frantic effort to stop the project. I really need to ask your help in voicing your outrage that millions of our taxpaying dollars are being quietly funneled into this unnecessary underground ballroom. (We have the new Symphony Hall and the recently renovated War Memorial Building that offer excellent space for large entertaining events.)

Please remember that this is your money (an honest estimate is over 12 million tax dollars– but it could be much more as they encounter underground construction issues.) Would you like these millions to be put to use instead toward public education, or healthcare, or helping the homeless ?

Governor Bredesen is banking on the rush of the holiday season to keep the number of citizens down a t this meeting tomorrow evening; he would not allow us to schedule this hearing after the holidays. I know it’s an inconvenient time, but please make it a priority. By state law the Bredesen
team must respond to every question put forth by a taxpaying citizen at this meeting. The media will be there judging public opinion and participation.

Your action can make a difference :

1. Invite at least one neighbor and tax-paying friend to join you at the upcoming public hearing about Conservation Hall – Thursday, Dec. 20, 5:30 p.m., at the Brentwood Hills Church of Christ, 5120 Franklin Road.

2. Sign the petition at www.taxwastestopshere.org to officially register your objection to the estimated $19 million ballroom.

3. Email and/or call the Governor and the members of the state building commission. Simply state you are against the government spending your tax dollars on building Conservation Hall, a ballroom the majority of Tennesseans will never see or use. (email addresses for the building commission members and the Governor are online at www.taxwastestopshere.org)

4. Please forward this email to everyone on your distribution list, it really is the only way to try to make a difference.

Thank you for helping John and me in trying to let our voices be heard.

S.O.S.,

Lorelee
