McWherter Rules Out Run

Mike McWherter the son of Former Tennessee Governor Ned McWherter (D) has decided not to run for U.S. Senate against Incumbent Lamar Alexander (R) in 2008. This comes as a shocker for me at least. I was very surprised to see Mike drop out. Other possible Candidates mentioned are Former Democratic State Chairman Bob Tuke, State Senator Rosalind Kurita and Attorney Kevin Doherty. Alexander is expected to run unopposed in the Primary and it’s looking like there won’t be a serious challenger in the general either.
